Foxy's Tale - Altoona Elementary Schools
I visited two elementary schools in Altoona, Pennsylvania. At McAuliffe
Heights at Irving Elementary I met with the whole school for a presentation
in the auditorium. Prior to me visiting the school, the students drew
pictures representing the eight chapters in
Foxy's Tale. The pictures
were judged and the winners had an Alaskan snack with me after the presentation
in the library.
We had a good time talking about the book, Alaska, sled
dog racing, and even a little about when I was in elementary school. Here
is a picture of me and the students who read the book to the other students
over the school's loud speaker system.
When I was leaving McAuliffe Heights at Irving Elementary, I stopped
to have my picture taken with an igloo they built out of one gallon plastic
milk bottles. It looked great.
After lunch, I met with some gifted students at Juniaita
Gap Elementary school. They were a fun bunch of kids and they all received
a "piece of raw liver" as a treat. You had to be there to understand about
the raw liver.
It was a fun day in the Altoona area, can't wait to go
back again next year.
